Eye issue. Need help please

FisherCham20 Mar 13, 2004 11:51 PM

Need you all's expert advice. A while ago I posted about Bender doing the freaky eye bubble bit. Since then he has been rubbing that eye a lot, keeping it closed longer after misting, and has what looks like a small scrape just above the eye opening. I have been watching it very closely and it's not infected and seems to be healing up (getting smaller). It still seems to bother him, even though he doesn't have it closed. Should I try using saline? If so, how do I go about using it? Gently flowed over the eye area? Should it get in the eye at all? It should be warmed up, right? If this sounds like a big problem, let me know and I'll take the poor guy to the vets. But if it's fixable, I'd love to save him the stress. Thanks a million!!

I don't think saline is the solution. Is your wattter particulary hard? If so, you might want to start misting with distilled water. And mist for at least 5 minutes at a time.

I'm not sure if the water is hard or not, but I've been filtering it (brita). I'll pick up some distilled though. Thanks! Oh, and I mist for a good 5 minutes or more.
