Hi there,
here's a pic of my Desert Iguana vivarium. It's about 230 gallons.
What do you think of it?

Yea...sarcasm at its finest. Very nice setup Tommy. I love the rock work, and it looks like a small fortune in lighting. Very cool, and thanks for sharing. Where are you located, and have you had any successful clutches yet???

Hi John,
I didn't have any clutches yet. Bought the females just 2 weeks ago. Now they don't look very interested in eachother. I hope they'll mate next year.
I'm from Germany, so excuse my bad English.

P.S.: I really do think it's too small, want to build a bigger one this summer.

You have built a great set up!! Its good to see a viv with "enough room"--- too many people have no clue as to the space requirements of these animals. Now for some questions---- how difficult ( or easy) is it to find DI's in Germany/ Europe? How long have you had them? What temps do you maintain ( cool/ hot / basking areas)? Do they dig a lot? Where do they sleep/ retreat?
Yep---- if you have the room-- might as well go for a bigger set up!! Make it big enough for an additional human --so we can send you JohnE !!! He has one chuck & thoinks ( Hi Tom!!)he knows it all!!! LOL

Hope you post often-- keep notes on behavior, observations & stuff and pass it on!!

Hi David,
You can find wildcaught DesertIggies in some bigger reptile stores, captive bred "Dipsos" aren't very often but you can find them if you spend some time on searching. My males are wc and I keep them for nearly 2 years. The females are cb and I bought them from a breeder 125 miles away.
The temps range between 80° and 105° F, the basking spots range between 110° an 130° F.
They dig alot, the sand is mixed with clay. On the right side the sand is about 7 inches high, so they can dig their own burrows to hide.
I want to build a 300g as soon as possible, not that high but with more space to move

I sent some dipsos to Piet Mantel in the Netherlands a few years back. He was keeping them in a big greenhouse. Not sure if he has bred them as he ran into some health problems a while ago and was pretty sick. I think he still has them though. Also sent chuckwallas to Henk Zwoortepoorte at the Rotterdam Zoo. Maybe you know these two people??? Anyway good to have you on the forum. Hope to hear from you a lot as this forum does get slow at times. Tom

How did you make the back look like a rock wall. It looks 3-d. Is it? or just a scene. I need to redesign mine this summer. Love the way yours looks.
