Very nice! Few questions: Do you mean he was born August 1st 2002? Has he always lived outside? Has he hibernated?

Bert informed me that he hatched in early August. I go with the first for some reason. He arrived at my place the day before Thanksgiving...in a snow storm. The UPS guy left him at the depot and found him when he went back and then delivered him. Good thing I didn't order a typically less cold tolerant herp!

He has never hibernated. This is the first time he has been outdoors since his days at Bert's farm. He grew like a weed and has since stopped at about 5 lbs. and about 3.5 feet. He hasn't eaten too much due to the stress and the cool weather we've had this Spring. I hope Summer arrives soon so he can warm up for more than one day and start eating again. I'm waiting for a big lizard!

His pen is an old vegetable cold frame. I had a cover of 1 inch PVC piping and hardware cloth. It will be secured and locked down with 1/4 inch steel cable and hooks drilled into the cement frame. The original cold frame was 30X6 feet. I split it into two 15X6 footers by building a wall of cinder blocks. The wall extends about 1.5 feet into the soil. I have my blue-tongue skinks on the other side. This is the first time they've been outdoors. They bred for me last year. I included a photo of the BTS pen below.

I am toying with the idea of using the tegu pen to breed red tegus.
