Switching from crickets to worms

lostkauze Mar 14, 2004 08:00 AM

I hate crickets. They smell, and aren't my friends. Anyways, I got a new hypo cattottail at a show near me in early Feb. (only $30, the guy was dumb). Anywho, I got her out of brumation, and she refused worms. I didn't want her to stave, so I've been getting crickets. This week she didnt eat any crickets.

Basically, what I'm asking is how is the best way to get a leo to switch from crickets to worms. I have plenty of worms, so that is the most convinient soluton for me. I bought silkworms on Friday, and she refused those as well. Should I not give her crickets anymore, and then out of desperation she will eat the worms? I don't really want to try that meathod.

If anyone has ideas... please help.

If your talking about mealies here is what i did.
1)feed your leo a big meal of crickets
2)wait 3 days
3)3 days after cricket meal put 10 mealies in a small dish (with 1/2 inch rims) in the cage and leave it over night
4)check to see if mealies are gone
5)make sure no mealies got out of dish

my leo loves mealies now and it eats 5 mealies a day.

id try giveing both and hope she will learn to eat the worms, dont starve her (duh) but make her a bit hungry for food and then give worms. as much a crickets stink and stuff you should try to vary her diet as much as possible.
