make a sort of Hissing sound (like air coming out with a sound)

They do this sometimes when they feel threatened, (scared) or aggreesive towards another uro.

Mine will do it if I try and move them if they are asleep,

I hope thats the sound your hearing if so its normal.

If its a poping or hiccup sort of sound when he breaths then its not good and could be a resp infection !

Let us know, how your set up is, temperatures, so on. If he is eating well and seems fine other than the noise.

Alot of GOOD people here, We will try and answer all your questions.

Hi Sean,
My mali hasn't been feeling well and the vet told me to soak him in some water to rehydrate him. He didn't seem to like it and was very scared. I heard that hissing noise through his nose but also the clicking. He was very scared and I took him out of the little water tub I had him in, the clicking stopped but the hissing through the nose didn't. I dried him off and put him back in his tank. He laid there lifeless for awhile. Only his eyes would move. Now he is eating and rummaging around the tank.. But I just wanted you to know that mine made the same noise and the hissing.

Sean,

A popping/clicking sound does not always indicate a respiratory condition.
A respiratory condition usually results in a crackling/clicking sound often heard upon exhale and usually progresses to include additional signs/symptoms such as: suppressed appetite, lethargy, open mouth breathing, stargazing, thick stringy mucus in mouth…

If your baby ornate has been exhibiting this behavior for a month now and appears healthy, chances are that the sound you are hearing from your baby ornate is a defensive response. When threatened, a uromastyx will often attempt to swallow air to inflate themselves so they appear larger to their prey. The fact that your ornate only does this when you are handling it and appears to be healthy otherwise, leads me to believe that the sound you are hearing is your ornate attempting to gulp air to inflate itself.

Yeah he inflates as large as possible when i handle him, so i guess it from the inflation?
Sound right?

Thanks a ton guys
