Red spots on Anerythristics.......

joe clark Jun 11, 2003 01:52 PM

Just thought I would share a pic showing one of the red spots on my anery motley. My other anery mot female has these spots as well.

The other female has 12 to 15 red spots. This female has atleast 25. I dont believe the number of spots is increasing, but rather I am noticing them more often.

Most of the spots are located at the base of the scale, or on the skin between the scales, making them a bit hard to see at first.

Yes, I know they aren't 'ruby-freckleds'.

Just something to share.

I think it's called reversion when during mitosis, some of the alleles revert to wild type, so you see some splotches of colour where certain cells are not homo for the anery allele or whatever allele. You see this on leucistic texas rats too.

One of my snows has a single red dot on her back.
She has gone through four or five sheds since I got her and it is still there.
