She likes force feed or like I like I like a root canal....

newkid Mar 14, 2004 09:46 AM

So 4 days on Panacur, for days of drop on nose feed. She will not open her mouth for anything. Will she just spring to life and want a cricket one day or ?

I stopped panacur am switching food today to that recipe or the powder from the store....

She looks terrible... Im getting very hopeless here...

She ways about as much as a pencil and panacur (.05cc) for 4 days had to kill any parasites. As a matter of fact it was probably too much but when you live in the "stix" thats the best vet info you get.

Just keep doing what Im doing? I mean this feeding time HAS to be stressful but..

keep a dish of mealworms in the cage at all times and see if it eats any.

Im throwing out crickets and food like mad.

i wouldn't try the crickets if she isn't going after them as they will stink up the cage and bring in parasites in their feces. And they might attack the leo. Just keep the mealies in the cage and count them every day or so to see if she is eating.

I still have a really bad feeling about the mealies. Number one she has never eaten one because she was already sick when I got them and two she just lays in her moist hide 24/7 with no intrest in life.

So do I still drop feed for however long? (drops on nose)

Whats really sad is that Ive done everything right and invested alot of time and alot of money into her and most likely because of an infested meal shes been deathly ill for over a week now and no signs of recovery.

Im going through the moods of regret, anger, sad yadda yadda if you cant already tell

If I get rid of crickets this time, it will be the last time crickets are in this house. Do I bleach bomb everything it cricket tank, leos tank and things in it etc. Basically what is safe to bleach and what isnt?

keep drop feeding her. I wouldn't totally give up on crickets yet. If she starts eating mealies you should get her some gutloaded crickets for added nutritional content. that sux that your leo is sick though.

Also, panacur reduces appetite and makes the poop sorta pale. You just finished the round of panacur, so wait a few more days till the panacur is out of the gecko's system (and clean the tank judiciously everyday, or everytime she poops). I wouldn't be surprised if you dropped a cricket in there in 2 days and your gecko ran after it like mad.

What kinda worm did your gecko have? Did the vet tell you?

I hope your right.
