JH Christmas! My turtle is missing!

RamonaR Mar 14, 2004 12:30 PM

Today when I went downstairs I noticed my turtle tank was very quiet. When I got closer to the tank I realized I couldn't see Giles anywhere which is impossible. On closer inspection I realized he wasn't in his tank! Now his tank is on a stand and I figure if he fell off out he'd be somewhere near by. His basking ramp is pretty close to the top of the tank and the screen cover wasn't securly fastened but I can't figure out where he might have gone to! How long can a turtle be out of water without dying? And any ideas where I could possibly look for him in my house???

The longest I have heard of a turtle being missing is four months and he was found in a closet. Good luck!

Found him! Walked downstairs and he was standing in the middle of the living room floor with dusty bunnies on his paws! Whew!

Glad to hear it, that would be pretty scary.

His name should be Hudini...lol. Just lower your water a little bit so that his little legs cant reach over and this shouldn't happen again. Glad you found him.
God Bless
