Cyclura sight

Usumbara Mar 14, 2004 01:15 PM

Does anyone know how exactly Cyclura (And probably the rest of iguanas) perceive the world? Do they see in heat, like snakes and (I had always assumed) all other lizards?

I ask because I use little paper plates that happen to have flower like designs on them. When he goes to eat, he seems to *always* try to eat the red flower designs on the plate. If he can't get one in his mouth, he moves on to the other red one. He never fails to pick the red ones out (There are red, blue and yellow flowers). Eventually he gives up and moves on to the real food.

So, does anyone know how Cyclura see?

There are no heat sensing structures in Iguanids...or any other lizards that I know of. They do see color.
