CORN AND GOPHER

caecilianman02 Mar 14, 2004 01:43 PM

HI:

I own an Okeetee corn snake about 1 foot and 3 inches long. I also own a Sonoran gopher snake about 2 and 1/2 feet long. The gopher is currently in a 75 gallon semi-arid vivarium with lots of hides. Both eat mice readily and are pretty thick. The gopher was brought up with other gophers, while the corn was brought up with other corns. If I fed them in seperate containers, would it be safe to house them together? I know it may sound risky, but if a gopher leaves another gopher alone, and a corn leaves another corn alone, don't you think they'd leave another snake alone. I have only heard one account of a gopher eating another snake- it was a rattler. Please tell me what you think.

Horrible idea. Not only a bad idea because of cannibalism, but spreading of parasites and disease is a major concern. Just shell out an extra 10 bucks if even that for a sterlite container. That housing arrangement could also lead to hyrbids, which are a BIG no-no.
