Not eating or just not hungry?

fadetolemons Mar 14, 2004 03:35 PM

Well last night i put about 24 crickets in w/ my 3 geckos, and by the time i went to sleep there were only like 4 left, so i'm assuming they ate alot last night. However, they wouldn't eat any of the remaining crickets this morning, and i put 8 mealworms in there at about 2 o clock and they haven't eaten any. I've watched them, and one of them peeks his head into the dish then turns away, are they just full from last night or should i start worrying?

They are nocturnal, so are more inclined to eat after dusk, just what I think

they are probably just not hungry. What size crickets?

The smallest they had. Most were about 3/4-the size of their head. one or two were bigger so i threw them out.

those are perfect size. keep feeding them the size that is 3/4 length of head and your leos will grow fast. Also what are you using for a gutload?

No clue what they were gutloaded with, bought them from my girlfriend's parents' store. I got them for free though, which is good. I'm planning on getting either some crickets or mealworms and keeping a lot myself, i'll probably load them on calcium and multi-vitamins. At what age can i start feeding my geckos wax worms and stuff for a treat?

you can feed them waxworms from when they are like 4 inches i think.

Ya. I feed my 2 babies waxworms, and they are less then 2 months old. They like em. Its good to get a nice fat foundation to build upon. Buy like 50 at first(from a pet store), to see if your guys are actually interested, then buy offline.

you won't need more than 50 waxworms. For 3 leos eating 2 a week that will be such a waste to buy them online.
