Hi, I baught three hatchling m. grandis and I was wondering how long it will take for them to start displaying territorial behaviors and how long it will take before I will be able to tell what sex they are. Thanks kollan

well if there all brothers and you put no females in or near the tank they may not fight not sure but um once there sexually mature and you put a female with them they'll fight to the death!

Hi,
I had my 2 female grandis together since 3months old, they were fine right up until approx 1 year old, when one started to dominate. The other one became injured and it was time to split them up. I now know how easy it is to tell the sex of them, since i purchased a male, as they look very different. i would think that it is very clear when they are approx 18 months old, although it is possible younger.

You shouldnt wait too long to determine the sex as the closer they get to sexual maturity then the more chance of fighting. Although i personally wouldnt keep females together, it has been known for groups of more than 2 to have less aggression, generally as juveniles though, there is probably exceptions to that rule though.

Regards
Julie
