Fire belly newt eggs

amphibianfreak Mar 14, 2004 06:57 PM

One of my 2 females produced some eggs. I noticed them when cleaning the plants. So far i don't know if they are fertile or not, b/c i don't know if my male is mature yet. As soon as i noticed them i moved them , while they were still on the plant and put them in one of those xtra large critter carriers w/ about 4 inches of water. Can someone please direct me on the proper care of newt eggs and then when they do hatch how to care for them?

Thanks

These should help:

They take 2-3 weeks from laying to hatching. If you have additional questions, write back. The forum at caudata.org has lots of people who've raised eggs.

hey matt!

lol, from what i understand, it is quite impossible to raise newt eggs. they are EXTREMELY difficult to raise, and i suggest u pop em in the microwave and have a little snack.
