Gravid Female Questions..??

dmlove Mar 14, 2004 08:42 PM

Well my female has been gravid with her second clutch for about 2 1/2 weeks, and she is huge. She has stopped eating since 5 days ago, but continues to bask. I put her in her laying box ever since she stopped eating, but she doesnt lay, just digs and then fall asleep or soemthing else. This morning she didnt go up to bask so i thought maybe she is ready, so i put her in, and she dug a lot, but ended up not laying. Is this normal? how much longer do you think it will be? i can easily feel eggs in her stomach, so i would think soon. Thanks

All of it is perfectly normal. My girl Lacie usually gets put in the laying box once and digs and lays within an hour...... then this past clutch she "messed with me" for 4 days in a row! I put her in the laying bin for 4 days straight before she finally decided to go ahead and lay.

I wouldn't worry yet and would just keep doing as you are.
