Domestic Violence

Wow....take about ungreatful. Finally introduced my male to two new females today and he (i'm assuming it was him) nearly ripped the tail off one of the females. Has anyone had this happen with their geckos before? I knew they could get a bit rough when establishing dominance and even when mating, but I was not ready for this. What do you guys put on the battle wounds?

Are you sure they are both females?

Yes, both are females.

ive had males rip small tears in the femails necks before, nothing more then a paper cut size scratch, i have just made sure it stayed clean and put an anti biotic ointment on it (only a small amt. so if they lick it they will not get sick)

just think, now hes a big tough stud! hehe

It has been known to happen, some males are overly agressive. You may want to introduce him to the girls one at a time and monitor closely. He might just be over agressive and you might want to retire him from breeding. Put some polysporin on the cut and keep it moist.
