Please help me! What is wrong with my Malayan Box turtle??

symmetry Mar 15, 2004 01:16 AM

I woke up today to find 3 open/not so open sores on the right hand of my sweetheart.

Was he attacked by bacteria in the water?? Is it some form of allergic reaction to dirty water?

I was negligent in changing his water for about one week due to some personal crisis i am going through. Can I apply liquid antiseptic on the wounds?

Please look at the photo in the photosite i have loaded below to give me some advice. Thank you!!

this looks almost like a botfly infestation.

Begin with changing the water completely.
Then try to get some chlorhexidine (an antiseptic used on people and animals).
Dry docking may be in order.
Are the sores red or pinkish?
Are they white?

okay i didn't see the link until after my othwr post.
This doesn't look like a bacterial or fungus related problem. My previous suggestion are not going to help.
I think its time to see a vet, this will probbaly have to be removed.
Do you have a goo d reptile vet? (don't go to a horse/cow or dog /cat vet)
