Spec Caiman with something wrong with skin.

Jess Jones Mar 15, 2004 11:39 AM

I had sold my caiman to a friend about 3 years ago and it now is around 5˝' and nice and fat. The problem is he had called me last night and wanted me to come over and look at it because the skin is drying up and cracking. It has cracked in some spot's bad enough to bleed. The caiman has a nice size cage with a 90 gallon pond. The pond has a filter so the water is nice and clear. He does however have 3 turtle's living in the pond. Now the caiman has stopped eating and will not go into the water and looks as if it is just drying up. Could this be a skin fungus ? What can he do for this ? I can get pic's of the area's that are drying and cracking if this will help. Please is anyone has any info let me know I would hate to see anything happen to this caiman. It is like a second child to my friend and he's very upset right now.

Yeah we checked the water and it was fine. He has also cleaned the pond and replaced the filter media. I will get some pic's and post them ASAP.
