Hello,
My gecko, Gypsy, has been raised on mealworms since she was a hatchling. She was never all that fond of any other feeder insect (cept for waxworms.).
You know that face that leos get when they are REAL hungry? Eyes get all huge and cross-eyed looking and they stand taller on their front legs and get excited and stare at anything that moves until you feed them? well she has been doing this a lot for the past few days. whenever i walk by, she gets all excited and starts following my every move and striking at the air like she is just STARVING. naturally, i have been going to feed her when i see this. I offered her mealworms. She licks it and just turns her head away (she used to go nuts when she saw a mealworm.) so i figure, maybe she is finally getting sick of them so i got her crickets. yesterday she ate about 5 of them and then didnt want anymore. today she is doing the same thing, looking for food, eyes all huge, whenever she sees me she strikes at the air as if there was food right in front of her. I try feeding her the crickets and she doesnt want any all of a sudden, just turns her head away. i offer her mealies and superworms. wont touch em. same with hissing roach babies.
why is she acting like she is starving but doesnt wanna eat anything?? seriously, i think she is holding out for waxworms because she knows i have them. i gave em all a few not too long ago. when will she just realize that shes not getting waxworms ever day? lol. she has a nice tail and everything, but she is gravid and about due to lay another clutch and i want to make sure she is eating enough between clutches. if she keeps acting like this, she wont eat anything! any suggestions, anyone?
