Different Types in Same Cage?!?

angel_eyes Jun 11, 2003 03:43 PM

I caught two small frogs at a pond and I'm keeping them as pets, and i'm not sure what type they are. They're small, dark green, and have little red spots all over their body, got any ideas? But anyways, my dad has a coworker that wants to give away a frog that just turned into a frog, its about the same size, but i'm not sure if they are the same type of frog, is it ok to put them together anyways? Thanx if you help!

never, ever mix frog species even if they are the same size.It can cause too much stress and that can kill them.Either get another tank to keep you dad's friend's frog in or better yet,let the ones you caught go,wildcaught frogs don't usually make good pets. Can you post a picture of your frogs?it would help alot in identifying them & getting set-up advice.

the frogs you caught are probably cricket frogs. they don't make good pets because they are very jumpy.

thanks, i'll check it out. lol, thats ok, I don't intend on holding them much, they are much more active than my other frogs which make them much more interesting. And thanks again

I checked it out, they are different. But they are jumpy. I can't take a pic because they are too small and the camera can't focus on it well enough.
