for Sand boas in a 60-50 degree room i suggest first heating up the room with an oil filled space heater (chrisharper2 knows lots bout them). and then heating the cages.

It is completely possible that a sand boa cage could be heated in a 50* basement without the use of a space heater (such as the oil-filled heaters mentioned by the previous poster).

Depending on the cage construction and the amount and placement of the ventilation, a radiant heat panel combined with a UTH might be sufficient.

But if not, and the cage is in a fairly small room, an oil-filled space heater can go a long way towards providing supplemental heat.

However, if it's a large room and you only have one cage it is probably not a good idea.

I suppose the type of Sand Boa in question may also make a difference. Don't they cover an incredibly large range?
