Need help with Dilemma (vet) and questions

dmlove Mar 15, 2004 02:46 PM

Well, i scheduled a vet visit for Ralphie later this week. I know he is extremely dehydrated (his eyes are sunken) ive been giving him water every few hours along with pedialyte in his syringe foruma (baby food). Im wondering about a few things. I beleive that he has some sever parasites, and how can i treat him, because the meds would make him go downhill even further than he is before going back up, and he is way to far down to go any further. And then I dont want it to be too stressful, he is getting way too much stress already. I also feel that this baby food is not enough. I dont know if he is getting enough nutrients to bust him back uphill. He lays down all day with his eyes clothes, sometimes basking (but with everything layed down, including head and eyes closed). Is there anything that can actually boost his energy a lot? is it even too soon to see any improvment? im stressing out really bad, i dont want my buddy to go through all this and i dont want to risk losing him, so im doing the best i can.Any help would be much apreciated.

Not sure on the history here but did Veronica from Beautifuldragons.com give you some advice? Check out her site, it has lots of good info.

Link for BD.com

Also, I'd definitely think about getting some acidipholiz and would be using it right away. This will help replace the good gut flora may be lost during treatment with regular meds.

Hope everything turns out ok. Wish I could help more.

My little guy had severe parasites. I took him to the vet and was told how severe it was. The vet gave me some albon and sent me on my way. I posted on here about it, and got some great advice. Puff was just like your Ralphie, by how you described. So, I started him on the albon, got some acidophiliz from PetSmart, got him some Pedialyte and made sure he got some every day. Plus, I misted him. I felt babyfood wasnt enough, also, so I actually got some Ectotherm (From any local petstore) for dragons and mushed that up with the babyfood and fed that through the syringe. The ecotherm is very nutritious. Now, five weeks later, Puff has NO parasites and is very hydrated. Thats just how it worked for me, hope it helps. I wish the best for you and your little friend! Keep us posted!
