heat tape question

Does the 11'' and 3'' heat tape genarate the same temps because on the bean farm website is says that the 3'' operates at herp keeping temps. i know i'd would have to use a rheostat but does the 11'' model get hot enough it is rated at 20 watts a foot.

i am not sure, but if you are worried about it buy the 11" inch tape and get a thermostat.
