prices of albinos

acmurt Jun 11, 2003 03:50 PM

How long will the price for albinos stay unchanged. Does anybody know what the trends before now were like. Because I am woried if I buy some hets It might equal a financial disaster if I don't pump out tons of babies my first year. Also is it reasonalble to sell proven adults for nearly twice as much as babies? Thank you for all of your input.

This is a topic that comes up at least a couple times a year. I would do a search on the archives. IMHO, albino BPs seem to have held their value fairly well.

Eventually, they may make it to what albino Burms sell for but not for a while.

yes you'll make money

even if baby albinos go down to $100 you'll make money...

but they will never go that low....

right now...$2Grand...

hets at alot less than half of that...

yes adults can go for double baby prices....

look at classifieds...alot (too many) of 2002 snakes for sale at alot more than the $40 in rats they were fed for the last 11 months....(example=pastel male for $1000 then feed it $40 in 11 months and try to sell it now for $1600 to $2000)....they are in there everyday...Do they sell?,some yes ,some I hope not...gawd...

........albinos will be over a grand for awhile yet....they were $15,000 a pair 10 years ago...and are still $4000 a pr now....

have fun....

buy a pied?....

Do you think that albino balls will even drop below $1k? I'm not talking about wholesale prices or the random great deals either. I mean the regular going price for albino balls.

I don't see why not. If people breed normals for $40 why wouldn't they continue to breed albinos for less than $1,000? I'm not sure what the actual cost of producing a baby ball is but I'm sure it's less than $1,000. How soon there will be enough of them that they will be $1,000 is anyone’s guess. At 10% depreciation a year it would take another 7 or 8 years or so (but then we can’t even agree on what the price is now much less what rate it will depreciate at).

and i agree..it will be almost 10 years from now as long as there are enough people still buying them and dumb people buying them now for $3G from online ....LOL

really...you'll make money...

how much to make a baby ball?

1.2 balls...an amel male and 2 het females...food a year at $50 each == $150 a year to produce 2 clutches...so...at 8 eggs each lets' say...you can sell them at $10 each and break about even....so at $25 each (like I normally wholesale normals) you make a little and sell them fast...

how much to make if you payed $3G for male albino and $800 each for the girls.....alot more.....

have fun...buy more...feed enough but not too much...

...albino BP's have been and will continue to be one of the best investments in the history of herpetoculture. It'll be several years before albinos crack the $1000 line, and several years after that before they commonly sell for under $500. Demand will continue to rise as they become more affordable.
Personally I think het males at $200-300 current price is quite a cheap way to get into the market.

I'm sure albinos will someday sell foe less than a thousand dollars but I don't see it happening anytime soon. I think the price will level off between two and three thousand dollars and stay for quite a while. As long as there is a thriving morph market albinos will hold there value because everytime a new morph is discovered the one of the first steps is to make an albino. The albino spider taht NERD bred comes to mind. Just my .02 and probably not worth that. Clay
