Rubbermaid Tubs?

vulcan Mar 15, 2004 04:56 PM

Would rubbermaid tubs be considered superior to terrariums for blood pythons? If so, what about when they get BIG? Does rubbermaid make anything that can accomidate a large blood python? What do you use for your monsters? Also, what is a better heat source for blood pythons: heat lamps or UTH's?
Thanks for the imput.

Rubbermaids are ideal for bloods, humidity, heating and cleaning.
Too bad they don't make large enough ones for the monsters.I use uth, and ceramic heat emitters on my large melamine, and flex watt heat tape on the rubbermaids.I'm going to try to make something work with heat tape on the melamine cages.Radient heat panels are said to be the best for everything. One day I'll sport the money for one and try it out.If you find a big plastic container let me know. The reason I asked was because on the Rubbermaid website they have some huge tubs.
This is the url for the large tubs (scroll down towards the middle of the page): www.rubbermaid.com/hpd/consumer/product/searchresults.jhtml;jsessionid=ZBBQP4MMREOJUCQHUCBCHPQKA4QGIIY4?_requestid=50709.

Here is an example of a 50 gallon (52 x 31 x 25 in.) tub on the site

Here is an example of a 300 gallon tub (63.3 x 69 x 25 in.) on the site

Would the 50 gallon be large enough for a blood?

I got some that are like 4.5 by 2 feet lying around just in case I have an itch to buy a full grown snake. I keep my larger one in a melamie cage that I made myself and my smaller one in a rubbermaid. The rubbermaid is heated with a 40 watt bulb and a low powered under cage heater, and I have a heat panel in the larger cage with a shut off sensor. Both heating situations seem to be working well with the applications. I'm not to sure about the giant rubbermaid tubs you posted they seem like you would run into some trouble monitoring and controlling temps and humidity .. just awkward containers to me but you could probably make them work
