Question about RTB lighting...

pspguy Mar 15, 2004 06:05 PM

Okay, I rescued this 6' RTB about 2 weeks ago. He has been to the vet, diagnosed with mouth rot, and once he finishes this shed will be taken for his shots. I have housed him in a 90 gallon tank, which I managed to crack with my heat lamp this weekend. I have now purchased him a 90 gallon lizard lounge, which should afford me the opportunity to better maintain and adjust to keep the humidity up. My question is.. how would you go about lighting and ambient heat? My room stays about 75 degrees.. my vet, and lots of other caresheets and reading materials have told me that their ambient air temp should ideally be around 85.. I am afraid to use another basking light because I don't want to crack the glass again... ideas?

Jeff

well its probably too late but you would have been better off buying a vision herp cage or a boaphile cage for what you paid for that 90 gallon LL. glass and hot lights are a problem. any chance of returning the LL? the forementioned are better housing for critters such as snakes and other reptiles that require additional heat. i dont have a good or even decent solution to use with the LL. maybe someone else has a good idea. just a word of advice......come here first and ask questions if you don't or are not sure about something. there are a lot of more expereanced people here that dont mind sharing info. just a thought. NO OFFENCE MEANT..

TRY USEING FLORECENT LIGHTING AND A UNDER TANK HEATER OR A HUMAN HEATING PADI THINK THAT MAY ACTUALLY WORK BETTER THAN A HEAT LIGHT
