drums in snake room-- Good or bad idea?????

jayskee Mar 15, 2004 06:35 PM

Now this seems like a dumb question... I would never ever think about putting drums in my herp (mostly snakes) room at all. I have about 20 snakes and a couple lizards . Now my little little brother wants to get some drums and he asked me if he could put them downstairs in the snake room... I told him i dont know yet....... I was wondering if anybody can tell me why you would object to this situation..........thanks Joe

I would think that the low resonation/vibrations would definitely be picked up by the snakes creating undue stress. Plus the fact....Do YOU really want to listen to your brother practice his drums while your trying to work with your animals???? Good way to create sibling rivalry quick!!! LOL, honestly doesn't seem like a good idea. Take care!

P.S. yeah there's some scientific mumbo jumbo that can be added to back this reasoning, but I'm sure someone else will be in the mood to expand upon this saving the rest of us the effort! LOL!!!

Paul is right. I've played drums for 22 yrs now. I wouldn't do it. The vibs would drive the snakes crazy ! I've not played in 9 yrs due to my animals. I LOVE jamming! BUT I LOVE my boas more
When I was a sophmore in high school I had to alter my drivers licenses to make me over 18 just to get into the clubs to play! How many kids ya know had a job playing heavy metal in high school? Oh............the fond memories & some fuzzy memories too !

band with P.A. systems and the works going every day! Well I only had a ball python and a kingsnake at the time. They were in the basement with us. It didnt seem to effect them too much to be honest they ate well didnt seem too stressed out that I noticed. Would I do it now? No, but Im not sure it matters too much. I still play the drums in the same house with my snakes although they are now on the other side.

p.s- oh yea when I was a kid I played drums in my small bedroom and my kingsnake was right next to me he didnt seem to mind too much he lived a good 15 years.
