i keep my argentine in a 6 foot by 3foot by 3foot,he seems do do well in it they grow very fast and eat everything i hope this helps you out if not drop me a email...

8Lx4Dx3H(for substrate) seems to be the most common recommendation. You can go smaller on a couple exceptions. If you plan on letting it free roam, you can get away with just enough room to bask and sleep, maybe 5x3. If you don't allow free roaming, you can go mulitlevel. Tegus aren't arboreal, but they don't hesitate to climb a ramp. Look at ciliatus' pics of his enclosure. I plan on using a similar setup. I'll probably let him free roam also, so I'll just put a doggy door at the bottom and he can come and go as he pleases.
