ummm... my dragon ate a skittle

the nerve Mar 15, 2004 08:21 PM

My friend tossed an orange skittle on my floor, and before I knew it, Irwin ran up to it and started eating it (must've thought it was a carrot). I saw him doing it so I ran after him and tried to pull it out of his mouth, but that only succeeded in getting my thumb split. Ouch, I really have respect for those jaws now! That was about 3 hours ago and he looks fine to me. Is there anything to worry about? I have a vet appointment scheduled for tommorow morning anyway...

Did he chew it, or just swallow it? How big is he? Skittles are pure sugar, so it should disolve and be alright but you might want to mention it to the vet anyway.

He's big enough to chew it up and swallow it no problem at all. He's a 3 1/2 year old male dragon. And my word of advice: if you ever see a big male dragon intent on chomping a skittle, you shouldn't stick your thumb in his mouth.

He turned his brightest shade of yellow after he ate that skittle. He looked at me all huffy and seemed to say, "why the hell did you just try to take my skittle away?? Give me another!!"

I should sell this script to Skittles and they could make a commercial out of it..

Wow, he looks a lot like my dragon! I'd post a pic but I don't have a good one to compare.

I think your guy will be fine...my old guy ate some Fritos 6 months ago and he's fine. You see, this dragon has always preferred me in the years we've had him. Suddenly 6 months ago he starts running from me to get nearer my husband whenever we took him out for family time. I couldn't figure it out till I caught my husband sneaking him a Frito. He became my dragon's favorite person by feeding him Fritos! Needless to say, I did put a stop to that by explaining dragon nutrition to my husband, but my old dragon still sucks up to dad in the hopes of a Frito or two!
