Sick Baby....Worried Mom.....Help

windyj420 Mar 16, 2004 07:20 AM

Hey guys, I have never posted here before, just looked around. Lots of neat stories and cool pics. Anyways, I have a two year old male that is acting really weird. He has slowed down a bit over the winter months anyways, but he has been eating and drinking and looking good. All of a sudden he has hit rock bottom. The back half of his body is very thin, you can almost see the bones. He has been eating up until yesterday. I have to go in his cage and get him out form underneath his house to get him to eat and warm him up. I soaked him in warm water yesterday but that didnt seem to do much. He just sits there with his eyes closed looking all sad. His head has turned a real dull grey color. I am very worried about him, if you guys have any tips please let me know. I greatly appreciate any help. Thanks,

guy, Gee, this could be so many things ! First has he always been kind of thin?

Was he captive bred or wild caught?

Point I'm getting at is you are saying he has been eating all winter, up til the other day.

Seems to me If he has been eating all that time and still has lost a ton of weight, maybe be parisites (worms) They will also make them quite lethargic, (weak )

Another thing how are his temps? Are they up there at 100 - 105 ?

One more possible thing to look for . Is he having any breathing problems, or any sound when he breaths? Any runny eyes or anything? Resp infection !

The grayish head, may just be shedding. Or from being Ill

I would start to feed this guy, some baby food with a dropper, add something for energy such as petylite,(spelled wrong)
found in baby isle at the market !

Try to jump start him a bit, before he just starves himself.
But I still think if he has been so skinny the whole time, you probably should have him wormed.

Sorry I could not be of more help.

Others buddies may want to add their thoughts !
I sure hope your guy does okay ! Let us know !

I am going at lunch to get some baby food and stuff. I have had to do this with baby beardies so its not a new thing. He is not captive caught, and I have had him a little over a year and he has been okay until now. Nothing has changed at all in his cage, I just hope I am not doing something wrong. Thanks fo the quick reply. I might go get some hydro life, that stuf worked wonders for a baby beardie I had. Thanks again......

I forgot one thing. Last night when I gave him his soak, he opened his mouth like he tried to lap up some water and his tounge got stuck and he just bit down on it. Then he would realize it and open his mouth a little a pull it back in. He is also moving his head in really weird ways. I had a beardie d this one time, never figured out what was wrong though. Just a little more info, maybe it will help identify the problem.

Hes not dehydrated? Maybe why his tongue is so dry its getting stuck ! Also moving head weird, what do you mean? Like seizures or something?

Are you giving enoungh calcium as not to be having any MBD problems?

I'm sorry for all the questions, hehe just trying to figure it from all angles ya know?

Keep in touch ! Sure hope he snaps back !
