Is anyone incubating BP eggs yet?? What are your methods??

Just curious how everyone is doing on their incubation. My first clutch is on the way and I was curious as to how everyone was incubating their clutches.

I use an old fridge laid on its back. I run 3 feet of heat tape with a helix to keep temps in the fridge at 89. Then I cut up a plastic milk box for the bottom so that my the containers that house the eggs are not directly on the tape.......

Works well I had 7 clutches last season and I had no problems

Good luck

Here is a pic of my old refrigerator design from last year (I did have some problems by they way but not sure if they where incubator related or not).

It's heated by a foot or so of 11" heat tape sandwiched between two 15" ceramic tiles held off the floor a bit by pieces of wood so air can circulate under. A proportional thermostat controls the heat tape. A computer fan blows air down the PVC in the corner.

Apart from the thermostat, I don't think I had $10 in the whole thing.

I'm sure a room would be better as this drops considerably when you open the door. I'll probably also try maternal incubation again with at least one of my bigger girls just because it’s so much fun.

anyone used the incubators they sell at such places as LLLReptile, they have different models from $35-80?

I wondered how good those work?

I used a Havobator last year, and all six of my good eggs hatched. All six babies are still going strong, eating like little pigs!! The only problem I have with them,is that they're not verry high inside....took me awhile to find containers that fit inside. If you get a Havobator(styrofoam incubator)I would suggest you get the extendor ring to make it higher.
Hope this helps,Roger
