Super Normals

triniian Mar 16, 2004 01:34 PM

Is there a distinction or a class that distinguishes one normal from another? By say pattern, colour, uniformity, etc.?

In my opinion, I have 2 of the best male ball pythons I have ever seen anywhere, in terms of their colours and pattern uniformity. I have never seen another one that matches either of these guys.

I would love to hear what anyone has to say about them.

It has taken my 8 mnths to get a digital camera and I have lots of questions about these guys so be ready...

Time for the pictures...

This is spot, a CB Mid '03 Male.

Notice how his pattern is completely of solid patches from head to tail, no exceptions.

This is Speck, a CB mid 'O3 Male

With the exception of one solid patch of brown, all of his patches seem to have black in the middle of them.

Every BP that I have come across in my limited experience with snakes has been a combination of the two patterns that I have shown above. I have yet to find a normal that compares to these guys. These two guys fascinate me.

I have been hard pressed to find good information on whether the patterns presented are genetic, dominant or recessive. I can only find info on the designer morphs.

Does anyone have experience with normal patterns of such and how they result in breeding?

Has anyone come across such pattern uniformity (in normals) before? (Not interested in morphs)

Does anyone have a female that looks similar to either one?

Do these guys potentially hold any breeding value, in terms of genetically improving CB Normal breeding stocks? (Forget monetary value)

Basically I am trying to establish whether pattern uniformity, like these two shown, is common or rare in BPs and whether these guys could be of any genetic value to the breeding society at large.

I am just a small time hobbyist with a big time curiousity.

I keep my animals only as pets and am to much of a small timer to almost even consider breeding.

Thanks for the knowledge guys.

More to come soon...
