Has anyone ever heard of a turtle having mites? I had to go to the dermatologist, and they said that the mites the turtles were carrying were attacking me, then jumping back off. I have never heard of them before, have any of you?

Well, mites can't survive underwater, and you shouldn't be handling your RES, so I don't see how that is possible. Do you have any other pets?

Mites are almost always species specific. I know for a fact that humans can't get snake mites, if a turtle mite exsisted it would be no different. Mites also drown underwater, so it's also pretty much impossible that your turtle has them. Also, mites don't jump. I think you have a misinformed dermatologist.
