boas temp dropped to 57 degrees, is this harmful?..input please

mrcanada21 Mar 16, 2004 05:16 PM

Hi,
I got home from work today to discover that a truck had smoked a hydro pole, killing power to the entire town. My snake was at 57 degrees for at least a few hours. He's safe at my parents now but I was wondering how serious this situation is. I fed him 3 or 4 days ago and he still has a bulge so I wouldn't be surprised if he regurged. Any comments or thoughts would be appreciated.

Cheers

If he has been at those temps for a few hours, he hasn't even gone through 20-25% of what an animal being shipped overnight goes through.
Warm him back up slowly, provide a little extra heat and humidity and he should be just fine.

I agree, the snake might get a little jumpy today but once you get her all warmed up she will be a happy little guy again... Good luck with that~!~

I figures as much but it is reassuring to get someones opinion with more experience.

BTW, more bad news on that sutuation....I later discovered that one of my buddies was in the truck that hit the pole. No injuries thankfully.

Cheers
