What would cause two perfectly healthy geckos to stop eating? More...

ChuUtena Mar 16, 2004 05:36 PM

My male fat tail gecko and one of my female leos have stopped eating almost completelty. Well I'm almost 100% positive the male hasn't eaten in weeks because I keep finding the crickets drowned in his water about 3 days after I put them in the tank, and my little leo will eat maybe a cricket a week. The leo I've had since December and up until about the end of january and the beginning of february she was eating and gaining weight, but she's stopped. So I've moved her into her own tank wondering if she couldn't get to the food (which has never been a problem with any of my gals because when I feed them I watch them) and the male fat tail I've had for about 2 months and he was nice fat and healthy when I bought him but it's been downhill. The two I bought from two different places (the male from a pet store I had never bought from before and I'm thinking I wont, but the leo is from my old job and the place I've bought all of my leos from) I'm basically at a loss. If I had some poo I'd take it to a vet, but I don't. I've tried crickets, mealies, and superworms all to no success with the male, and only crickets with the leo. Please give me some advice? I'm going to be looking for a local herp vet after finals week so I can take them in, but until then I'd like to try anything. Thanks!

Maybe you could tell us the temperature and humidy of the cage, that would help in solving your problem. With a little more info like, cage size, number of hides and humid hides. If your on sand they could have an impaction.(check for a bulge in their stomach). Otherwize thats the most info I can give you.
