Okay, so I'm taking pics of one of my normal males for a database. He's 2 years old, and I've had him from a hatchling, and he's normally quite tame. I reached down to re-position him and WHAM!!!... out of nowhere he grabs me, bites down hard as heck, and begins shaking his head ferociously as though I'm a rival male. Only thing I can come up with is that I had taken pics of a few males on that surface before him, and he was smelling their scents right as I reached down to move him, and he assumed I was one of them. Thing is, he hung on for... oh say around 4 minutes, periodically shaking his head and ripping further into my pinky finger. Finally he let go because I believe he was about to asphixiate on the huge amount of blood that was pouring from my finger. I pulled my figer out and there was a huge blood clot in his mouth...yuck huh? What's grosser still, I went to check him today and he regurged a ton of blood all over his enclosure, and he looks as though he's not feeling well. I guess I wouldn't either. Anyhow, I just thought I'd share this as I had never seen a leopard gecko bite this bad before. I've been breeding leos for several years and I've never had a bite anywhere near this before. I've had WC tokays do similar things, but I expect it from them...lol. Oh by the way, you can't see it in the pic, but he's got blood dripping all out of his mouth and he looks so evil, but he's usually so sweet. Just goes to show what hormones can do to a leo during breeding season... fingers beware....
