temperature for eggs question

JennaLeigh Jun 11, 2003 05:43 PM

Alright...I really dont want any more males like AT ALL (b/c I would have to keep buying more tanks and everything for them) so if I kept my females eggs at a temperature about 75 degrees maybe a itty bit higher, would I even have a chance of getting a male or 2? Because my room pretty much stays at 75 to about 77 degrees and I was thinking if I just kept the eggs in the room they would *hopefully* turn out to be both females. This question is for future breeding of course. And if I did get 1 or 2 females what size would they have to be to be put in the same setup as their mother? Because I would definetly keep them in their own home until they would be at a size where the mother wouldn't be able to harm them or even eat them! haha. Thank u so much! :D

I have never incubated eggs at a temperature below 80 degrees, and everything I've read lists a minimun temp of 78-80.

78 is the lowest I have seen but myself I would never go below 80.

That's too cold. You should get all females at 80-82. I incubate for female at 82-84 and have never gotten a male at those temps.
