OneTwoManyHerps Mar 16, 2004 08:30 PM

Hey everyone I would like to get into breeding my own mealworms if possible to cut down on price of feeding my leopards and cresteds. If anyone has any good plans they use, please e-mail them to me or post below.

HI,

Use Potato and Apple rinds sprinkled with calcium. After they begin to metamorphose, Remove them to a breeding box. The Black adult beetle only live for a short time. They mate and die. Also becareful of Ant invasions that could wipe out your colony.

Good Luck.

Liz

When mealworms turn into those little white pupa things (they give me the creeps) they are in transition to become beetles. Then beetles then go off and mate and lay eggs. The worms hatch out of the eggs and so the whole process starts off again.
