Gophers and Co-Habitation

kenr212 Mar 16, 2004 09:49 PM

I have young San Diego gophers and I'm wondering if it's OK to house them together or are they cannabalistic? Taking all things into consideration like, similar size, feeding in seperate containers etc. Is it OK?

it is not highly recommended. While Pituophis in general are not not highly ophiophagous, there are documented accounts of the occasional mishap.
If at all possible, I would highly advise you to maintain each specimen within its own enclosure.
If you do attempt keeping them together, feed them in seperate enclosures and monitor them closely.

Best of luck,
