Happy St. Patty's Day from TJ's Tangerines!

TJ. Mar 16, 2004 10:22 PM

Hi Everyone! I've been wanting to post these pics for Years. And since I can do that now (and on the anniversary, too yet) here they are: On the night before St Patty's Day 2000, I decided to begin the first attempt at breeding Tangerine Hondurans. I placed the fresh shed skin of the female in with the male in his own little bachelor pad. Needless to say, he soon appeared to be More than interested...by crawling completely inside the females shed!!! (And I'm pleased to say I got photos of it.) Here they are. I have never seen this happen before or since. Thought you might like to see it, too. TJ. Here he is crawling in:

"Hmmm...Love is in the air...Yummm!" Glad to report that they went "at it" the next day shortly after they were introduced. Funny thing about breeding these things is...they almost always couple up shortly before or during a storm front passing through! It's like clock work!!! Works every time. I don't even bother putting them together when the weather is clear and sunny...but as soon as a blizzard or thunderstorm is predicted, sure enough, they are In The Mood! Incidentally: They did mate for the first time on March 17, 2000...take That St. Patrick! Always thought that was somehow appropriate. TJ.

I don't know if "fonzerella" posts here anymore, but your photos reminded me of their pic of my favorite milksnake subspecies exhibiting the same behavior... of course, I used to do more or less the same thing before going to see the Rocky Horror Picture Show, but I'll spare you from having to see those photos.
