Need of some information

What are the chances of 2 male RES of about the same size will get along ? My guy has lived solitary since I've had him, for over a year. The other has lived with other turltes. Is it better for a male and female to live together, or 2 females ? Or does it just matter what each turtle is like ?

I don't think it should be a huge problem. If your turtle lived alone for 10 years then there might be a problem. 1 year shouldn't be that much of a shock.

Make sure your turltes have enough space, and make sure you watch them closely at how they behave (at night, and when you're peeking/hiding so they don't see you). My 2 RES have lived together their entire lives and still fight sometimes. It just seems like certain periods they are more hyper/aggressive, which is why they fight.

So go ahead and try it

As long as there is no female turtle present, the two males may not fight, but it depends on the turtle. You will also need a huge tank, since each turtle needs to have his own space, and two basking spots is also a good idea. Otherwise the stronger turtle may not let the other one bask.

Hey thanks. I am looking to adopt another turtle, and I'll keep all that in mind.
