Help Save A Life

i have a crested that is 6-7 months old, about 3 inches SVL and he/she isnt doing so well. here is what has been going on for a month or so:

1. very lathargic. will sit in the same place for more than a day.

2. crickets. i put in about 5 cickets a week and they disappear. i cannot confirm that my crested is eating them (i havent seen it eat a cricket for a few months), but i dont think they are escaping.

3. doesnt eat baby food. there are no visual signs that my crested is taking baby food from the amount that i put in the cage. ( it will, however, eat baby food off my fingers sometimes)

4. last shed did not come off on its own. i had to let my crested soak in a shallow dish of warm water, and then carfully i removed the shed skin with toothpicks. (my fingers were too big!!)

The temparature and humidity have been the same since i got this crested as a hatchling.

I have an adult male crested that does great. the two are in the same screen cage, but are separated by a tight fitting styerfoam partition. they cannot see one another, so unless my juvenile is intimidated by the smell of the male, this is not the problem. (i included this fact just in case)

Please help me. I dont want this little guy to die. I would greatly appreciate any and every opinion as to what the problem is and what potential solutions are.

thank you for reading this far.

I'm sorry I won't be of much help, but I understand how worried you must be

My baby crestie had problems with her other font leg. I still don't know what it was. The leg got swollen and he didn't use it. No problems with other legs. He didn't move much then and wasn't eating very good. I used to feed him babyfood mixed with calcium and vitamins every night (I just slipped it into his nose and he licked it off) for nearly a month to make sure he was alright again.
I was just thinking if your gecko could have mbd or miss some vitamins or maybe it is hurt?

I have also heard that that kind of behavior might be because of problems with eyes.

I have my two babies next to my adult male and they can see each other but I haven't noticed the babies to get stressed of it. The babies do watch each other and try to catch each others food through the plastic, but they haven't paid any attention to the male.

YOU FEED IT FIVE CRICKETS A WEEK!!!!!!

That size gecko should eat 3-4 a day!!!

You aren't feeding it enough. That would be the explanation wouln't it! As for the baby food, some cresteds just don't like it, and if they do most of the time they don't eat enough of it for us to notice. Shed problems are common in juvenilles, just mist it's cage more often.

the issue here is that my crested is lathargic. it doesnt move much and it is not active at all.

i didnt say anything about it being skinny.

also, i do not exclusively feed him crickets. they are only part of the diet.

I'm a rookie myself, but my baby rhac is very lazy. Maybe you never see him active because he only moves when you sleep? Just a thought.

I would suggest to pick up a peice of her poo and squish it in your fingers you should be able to see the crickets head in the poo as they dont seem to break down in the gecko.
