My burm is now a little over 5ft. I want to start using a hook. does anyone recommend a brand or online store?
I want one that is collapsable so I can use it from now till she is full grown.
Thanks in advance,
Richard

just FYI by the time your burm is to big a snakehook will be of almost NO use whatsoever.

True a regular snake hook may be useless with a big burm but I still like to use a hook just to make the initial contact when taking mine out of the enclosure. I feel that first touch when a snake may be asleep or in a defensive position is when a bit may happen. My guys have never even bitten the hook but no use taking chances, huh.

Save your money.
I just made a snake hook and feeder clip from material at Lowe's. I used 1 1/4" oak dowel for the handle and 1/4" metal rod. Everyone says they're no good for a large snake. It's a hook, not luggage. All I use it for is to redirect the head if he seems froggy. I used to use a rolled up newspaper. Once I get under the first foot he's calm enough that I know he most likely won't bite. Never say never.
Anyway, find someone with a tap & die set and thread one end of the rod for about 4 inches. Use a hammer or, Preferrably, a vise to bend the other end to the shape you want. Drill a slightly smaller hole into the end of the dowel rod about 5 inches. Screw the rod in and use it. It ain't fancy but it works. Mine are about 2 feet long. I wouldn't use collaspable, that doesn't sound reliable.
Nice idea about making your own hook! I have a hook in the mail from tongs.com but think I will make my own set of tongs for feeding though. They are kinda expensive and like you said it doesn't need to be fancy. Its just for making a rat dance for my guys.

That's what I'm talking about! Do it yourself! Don't stop their. This DIYS stuff is easy with a little practice.
I'm near done with my burms cage too. If it can possibly be done yourself, I will do it.
