hi i recently purchased a chondro from a local petshop that is trusted by me and the chondro seems to have a small little area on the bottom left hand side of the jaw that is swollen. i opened the mouth yesterday to check for mouthrot but the skin seems to be very healthy because of its pinkish color. Can anyone give me any good advice on what i should do or what the swollness can be or how can i make it go away? Please i would really appreciate any imput that you guys can give me since a vet bill is way out of my league right now at this moment. i would post a pic but unfortunately a digital camera is also out of my reach. PLEASE HELP!!!!!={.....

I'm not the most knowledgeable person on chondros, but i have been reasearching them becasue they fasinate me and i would like to acquire one eventually, but right now i don't have the money and school provides some conflicts. Anyway it sounds to me like his swelling on the nose is happening becasue he/she is going to shed soon. I could be wrong so someone else on this forum might want to chim in.

Have you spoken with the seller, if not do so now, as to not have complications if the animals health becomes an issue, These can be difficult little critters to care for I assure you, before buying these animals you really should do research. Go to

Do as much reading as you can, and get the book. Great tips and tricks. Having animals means you need to be able to afford the services of vets. I am not trying to be mean but as an owner thats your first requirement, and the health of the animal is your responsibility, no matter what. Its very difficult to even find a vet that knows anything at all about chondros, I had a vet kill several of my babies once , by over medicating them.

It sounds like a stuck shed to me, I would make sure you raise the humidity, and dont handle the animal, as its easy to stress them and damage them at the young age. Good luck, DO YOUR RESEARCH-d
