SIMPLE SIZE QUESTION FOR CUBAN IGUANA

BRONXBOY Mar 17, 2004 12:33 PM

HELLO,
I WAS JUST WONDERING IF SOMEONE COULD TELL ME WHAT IS THE AVERAGE SIZE (LENGTH) OF A HEALTHY, WELL FED, CUBAN IGUANA THAT IS APPROXIMATELY 1 YEARS OLD?

THANKS

Size at a year can depend on lots of things...genetics, husbandry, what each person considers a "healthy diet". Iguanas that are fed more animal protein may possibly be larger than those that are not. I feel that my 2 and 3 year old Cubans are small at 2 and 2.75 feet respectively, altho my female laid eggs at 2 years of age and 2 feet in length. I'm also comparing them to my 2 year old Rhino who is 37 inches STL and 15 inches SVL already. Cubans are slow growers. Fine tune your husbandry, feed lots of leafy greens and calcium rich veggies, allow them to get plenty of UVB, and let them grow at a natural pace. With proper care they will be a companion for a long time.
