Coolgecko is absolutely right! just use paper towels untill your gecko is full grown! then try switching to sand. if the leo doesn't like it then switch bac to paper towels!

I don't want to start other sand debate, I talked to my few firends that are from East-Middle and they are familar with Leopard Geckos and they told they are offen found anround rocks or bushy area.

Don't use moss except maybe for in a humid hide. It would nearly impossibly to keep clean and would hold way too much moisture. I recommend tiles. They hold heat well, are inexpensive, very easy to clean, and look good. In the wild leos live where the ground is a hardpacked clay layer covered with a layer of EXTREMELY fine dusty sand...more fine than any sand we have commercially available here in the states. They also don't purposely hunt on sand, and stay mostly in very rocky areas. No baby leo should ever be kept on sand, but when its an adult you could try to mimic the natural environment with tiles and a sand area at the end, or slate pieces and filling in the spaces between pieces with sand (sand should be very much the minority of the substrate!). Also, in a setup like that, only food that can be kept out of the sand should be used (i.e. no crickets!...mealworms in a dish is best).

I don't know if petco would have tiles...I think there is a reptile tile that they might sell....but I'm really not sure. The best place to go for tile is a hardware store like home depot, lowe's, or menards. A substrate you could get from petco is repticarpet, but that might be a little difficult to clean.

If she eats too much she'll vomit...she'll quickly learn not to eat too much. Don't worry about that too much. You do however have to worry about crickets being loose in the tank. Crickets constantly loose in the tank will cause her a lot of stress, so you need to put them in at night and then take whatever ones she doesn't eat out after she's done.

lol...problem is...once its dark out and the crickets get hungry...they might start trying to nibble on her...which is not good. You really need to try to take them out so they don't do that.

or don't put all 12 in at once.
Put a couple in watch it eat, make sure it's not eating sand then pop a few more in.
The tile thing is a really cool idea, i can't wait to go grab some.
