Frog Mister/Fogger

hornedman Mar 17, 2004 03:08 PM

I just recently got back into the frog hobby and this time im looking for put alot of $$ into it.I was wondering if anyone here knows or used a mister (Or there may be another name for it). I have a whites tree frog right now and im pretty sure that with a mister i would be able to distuinguish wheter is a male or female to go forward and breed.Although this is not the only use that i will occupy the mister for.So if anyone could help me out on any companies that sell these or a great website for frog supplies.I know people have told me they created their own mister but i dont want to go through the trouble to leave me with a huge customized mister.

Thanks Everyone

I actually just purchased that new Habba Mist. I got it at Petco for around $40 which I have seen them for almost $80 aswell. I really like it, it is easy to hook up you can program to how often you can mist. The only problems I have is the mounting brackets do not work well nor do the suction cups and b/c their are air vents you can not put it on a shelf so I just bought little feet for it. You can put it inside the tank if you have a large enough tank b/c it has a base mounted nozzle or you can have outside the tank with the remote nozzle. I even went out and get another nozzle and hooked it up to a air valve from a tropical fish store and i am using the same habba mist for 2 tanks. That is a little bit less effective that way.
Hope that helps.

What does your mister work off of? Do you see better health and activity from the frogs? I appreciate your informative respone

it is that new Habba Mist they sell it on Reptile Direct for $39 and it is its own unit you just fill it with water and set it to what you want it gives you option on the how frequent and for how long. I just set mine up and in the one tank I have set for every 3 hours for about 15 seconds and 2 of my frogs which I NEVER see have become much more active then in the past, they are always out. The other one that I have setup I have not noticed a difference with their activity and I have not setup the rest. I bought 5 of them b/c they were on clearance at Petco and I find them rather convenient. But I am still trying to get extra spray nozzles to split them off. They are a little loud when they run but they say that the frogs get used to the sound and will even come out when they here in anticipation of the spritz. I hope this helps. If you have any more questions feel free to email me.

Try Exoterra' mister or fogger. I've never tried it but it's smaller than Habba mist and also you can remove every once in a while. I have never tried but I've seen it for about 20 or 30 dollars.
