Looks like spring has finally almost sprung here in nc-FL.
Went looking for Hyla squirrela when the frontal system passed two nites ago. No squirella, but did see:
100 Hyla cinerea, green treefrogs
50 Hyla gratiosa, barking treefrogs
tmtc Pseudacris ocularis, little grass frogs
5 Pseudacris nigrita nigrita, southern chorus frogs
tmtc Bufo terrestris, southern toads
tmtc Scaphiopus holbrooki, eastern spadefoots
1 Rana capito aesopus, Florida gopher frog
20 Hyla femoralis, Pine woods treefrogs
tmtc Rana sphenocephala utricularia, southern leopard frog
1 Agkistrodon piscivorus conanti, FL cottonmouth
1 Nerodia fasciata ssp. Banded water snake
1 Neofiber alleni, round-tailed muskrat
50 Rana grylio, pig frogs (all juveniles)
1 dor Ambystoma talpoideum, mole salamander
5 Eurycea quadridigitata, dwarf salamander
temp was 66F, time was 2200 to 0200 hrs.
