When preparing for egg laying...

deejay17 Mar 17, 2004 06:02 PM

what do you have to do? Does the sand/dirt need to be in the water or on dry land? If on dry land does there have to be a heat lamp over the area? After egg laying is through do you just through them in the trash? Thanks. God Bless.

You need to create a nest box. Its basically liek creating a basking area only with a substrate for the female to dig in and lay the eggs in. The sand/soil mix should be at least 6in deep. Why would you jsut throw the eggs away? If you do not want the offspring why are you keeping males and females together? Thats just a waste.

Adult females will lay eggs whether or not they`ve mated. They just won`t be fertile.

Oh alright. I thought you had a male in there with her. Yeh, they will be infertile obviosley. Just toss them out after she has laid.
