My male lizard won't eat and my female eats too much!

sharivegas Mar 17, 2004 06:18 PM

My male lizard hasn't eaten anything in a long time and my female one eats all the crickets in sight. Today there were all these crickets in front of the male and the female was on the other side of the cage and he still wouldn't eat. I'm going to try a cage devider next time I feed them, but if he didn't eat today I doubt he'll eat with a devider there too. Why won't he eat? I know he has to be starving. And I do have a proper uv light in the cage.

What kind of lizards are your lizards? How long have you had them? Is this a new problem?

maybe put some hiding spots in the cage (or do you already have any) In my cage the male eats all the crickets immediatly and the female hides but a few crickets crawl into the females hiding space and when they do she eats them. I think it might be a display of dominance.( The same thing happens with my guinea pigs and we just take one out of the cage when they display the dominace so the other can eat)

They are Jeweled Curly Tail lizards and I haven't had them for too long. About 3 weeks or so. And the problem has been going on for a week or two. It hardly ever comes out of the sand at all either. But the girl is doing fine with the exception of eating too much.

try putting some fruits in there. Then maybe the male would want that.
