Yearning for a friend/not eating... help

lostkauze Mar 17, 2004 08:15 PM

Ok. Some may remember, but I got a pretty adult girl in early Feb. She wouldnt eat worms, (hence past posts), and ate crickets. Well recently, she's lost interest in crickets. She ate 2 for me yesterday, so I know she's not lost all hope. But I think she can smell my other geckos, and recently has been smelling alot. She's putting her nose in the air, and coming to the edge of the tank when I come. She gets close and smells me.

I am thinking maybe she isn't eating, because she wants a friend. I think she was housed with other leos in the past, and wants a friend. (I seperated her from 2 other leos. but she wasn't related, but probably living with them.)

I am going to look into a vet this weekend, because she is getting folds in her skin, which worries me. Its been little over a month since I've had her, and I've met the minimum quarinteen (sp) requirements, but I vowed to myself that I wouldn't introduce her to my others until I had her feeding well on mealies, and until she had big poops. (she's been having smal ones due to not eating much).

My scale says she hasn't been losing wt. But she's lost atleast a gram, per due today's reading, but I'm beginning to question the accuracy of the scale.

Anywho, could this not eating be linked to loneliness?

Any suggestions?

Thanks!!!!!!

Michael

Michael, You've been stressing about this animal since you got it. Email me at rocky69@STIS.net. I have the microscope, liquid Flagl, Panacur, Albon. My buddy's fiance is the vet's vet and has taught me alot and my wife is the best nurse around. Remember the stuff about always buy from a reputable breeder. Sometimes a "deal" isn't such a deal. Just hate to see a fellow geckkie or gecko suffer.
